Pre-School:

Parents can express a preference for a morning or afternoon place. (Places are offered dependent on numbers).

Our staff ratio is 1:8. All staff are DBS checked and receive regular training, including in First Aid and Safeguarding.

Each child begins their Learning Journey with us. We allocate a key worker to your child, to follow and track their development in their ‘Learning Journey’ record. We regular share that record with the child’s parents, and actively encourage parents and carers to visit our preschool and watch their child play and read about what they have been getting up to.

Each week, parents and carers are invited into Preschool on ‘Walk in Wednesdays’ to spend half an hour with their child and to chat to their child’s Key Person, to hear how they are progressing. Parents are welcome to accompany their child to our Christmas visit to Stourbridge Library for a Christmas themed story and rhyme session.

Our Values:
The pre-school has close links to St James’s CE Primary School and shares and endorses the same Christian ethos and school values: Respect, Kindness, Friendship, Perseverance, Honesty, Responsibility. We are very much part of the wider community with close links to St James’s Church, and the local libraries.

Activities:

At St James’s we follow the Early Years Foundation Curriculum, and pride ourselves in offering children a wide range of activities, both indoor and outside. Our pupils love to learn through play.

– In our mini forest school area, children can play with water and sand, learn creative cooking, and play in the mud kitchen.

– In the designated playground, children can play on the on climbing frame or enjoy balance bikes.

– Starting with a Home Visit.
